In august company
Can anyone tell me anything about these people?
  • Mark Wright, The Stage
  • St John Donald, PFD (and what is PFD, anyway?)
  • Peter Norris, Producer (and is that a job description, or a publication?)
I have a theory but I may be missing something obvious.

Well, given the context, I'd assume it's the PFD agency, but I can't help beyond that.

I don't know but the name Peter Norris struck a bell.

A friend of mine rather likes Doctor Who and measures his sanity against others so inflicted (he once pleaded "i need help" when his Cybermen obsession was pointed out) BUT considers himself sane against this Mr Norris:

The other names also seem familiar and I would guess in musical / fan production stylee?

Mark Wright has co-written several Big Finish plays with Cavan Scott. St. John Donald is an agent with PFD, representing, among others, Doctor Who author Colin Brake. Given the context, Peter Norris is likely to be the television producer, most recently of BBC-1's horsey drama "Rough Diamond".

What you've all go in common is that you're included under a heading called 'The List' on Temporarily SignificantBen Aaronovitch's blog.

PFD:
On October 1st. 1999 Peters Fraser and Dunlop became "PFD". PFD is one of Europe's leading literary and talent agencies both in terms of turnover and breadth of representation.

I think they're all people who are on his list of doom. But what have you done to get on it?

St John Donald had the room next to mine in 27 Banbury Road at St Anne's College in 1986-7. He was a big Evelyn Waugh fan and dressed in a rather affected "Brideshead" kind of way as some people did in Oxford in the mid-1980s (probably still do). If only I had taken his implicit hint about EW then things might be very different now. He was I believe an MD at PFD, so presumably now co-MD at United Agents, although I think Simon Trewin, also ex-PFD, now UA, Scarlett Thomas's agent, is more likely to be sympathetic to my current MS.
